These are organic compounds containing an isoquinoline to which a benzyl group is attached. Papaveraldine is a strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Papaveraldine has been detected, but not quantified in, opium poppies. Papaveraldine is found in Papaver somniferum L. . This could make papaveraldine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
