DescriptionEpiphyllic acid, also known as epiphyllate, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as aryltetralin lignans. These are lignans with a structure based on the 1-phenyltetralin skeleton. Epiphyllic acid is found in Bazzania trilobata, Chiloscyphus polyanthos, Lepicolea ochroleuca, Lepidozia incurvata and Lophocolea heterophylla. Epiphyllic acid was first documented in 2012 (PMID: 22854960). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Epiphyllic acid.
