Description3-Hydroxy-4,11-dimethoxy-10-oxo-6,7,8,10-tetrahydro-6-azatetraphen-6-ium belongs to the class of organic compounds known as protoberberine alkaloids and derivatives. These are alkaloids with a structure based on a protoberberine moiety, which consists of a 5,6-dihydrodibenzene moiety fused to a quinolizinium and forming 5,6-Dihydrodibenzo(a,g)quinolizinium skeleton. Dehydrodiscretamine is found in Corydalis tashiroi, Fissistigma balansae, Polyalthia parviflora, Stephania intermedia, Stephania intermedia H.S.Lo., Thalictrum foliolosum DC and Tinospora capillipes Gagnep.. 3-Hydroxy-4,11-dimethoxy-10-oxo-6,7,8,10-tetrahydro-6-azatetraphen-6-ium is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
