DescriptionPaspalinine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as naphthopyrans. Naphthopyrans are compounds containing a pyran ring fused to a naphthalene moiety. Furan is a 6 membered-ring non-aromatic ring with five carbon and one oxygen atoms. Naphthalene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon made up of two fused benzene rings. Paspalinine is a primary metabolite. Primary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically essential metabolites. They are directly involved in an organism’s growth, development or reproduction. Paspalinine is found in Aspergillus flavus sclerotia, Claviceps paspali, Penicillium janthinellum, Penicillium miczynskii and Penicillium simplicissimum. Paspalinine was first documented in 2014 (PMID: 24983640). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on Paspalinine (PMID: 32077051) (PMID: 34784090) (PMID: 33577667) (PMID: 32702474).
