| Description | C.P.460 Belongs to the class of organic compounds known as xanthophylls. These are carotenoids containing an oxygenated carotene backbone. Carotenes are characterized by the presence of two end-groups (mostly cyclohexene rings, but also cyclopentene rings or acyclic groups) linked by a long branched alkyl chain. Carotenes belonging form a subgroup of the carotenoids family. Xanthophylls arise by oxygenation of the carotene backbone. Thus, c.P.460 Is considered to be an isoprenoid. (2R,2'R)-1',2'-Dihydro-1'-hydroxy-2-[(2E)-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-butenyl]-2'-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-beta,psi-carotene is found in Corynebacterium poinsettiae. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on C.P.460. |
