| Common Name | 1'-(beta-D-Glucopyranosyloxy)-1',2'-dihydro-beta,psi-caroten-4-one |
|---|
| Description | 1'-Hydroxy-4-keto-gamma-carotene glucoside belongs to the class of organic compounds known as xanthophylls. These are carotenoids containing an oxygenated carotene backbone. Carotenes are characterized by the presence of two end-groups (mostly cyclohexene rings, but also cyclopentene rings or acyclic groups) linked by a long branched alkyl chain. Carotenes belonging form a subgroup of the carotenoids family. Xanthophylls arise by oxygenation of the carotene backbone. Thus, 1'-hydroxy-4-keto-gamma-carotene glucoside is considered to be an isoprenoid. 1'-(beta-D-Glucopyranosyloxy)-1',2'-dihydro-beta,psi-caroten-4-one is found in Rhodococcus rhodochrous. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 1'-hydroxy-4-keto-gamma-carotene glucoside. |
