| Common Name | 6,7-Didehydro-5',6'-epoxy-5,5',6,6'-tetrahydro-3,3',5,19'-tetrahydroxy-beta,beta-carotene |
|---|
| Description | (1R,3S)-6-[(3E,5E,7E,9E,11E,15E)-17-hydroxy-16-[(E)-2-[(1S,4S,6R)-4-hydroxy-2,2,6-trimethyl-7-oxabicyclo[4.1.0]Heptan-1-yl]ethenyl]-3,7,12-trimethylheptadeca-1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15-octaen-1-ylidene]-1,5,5-trimethylcyclohexane-1,3-diol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as xanthophylls. These are carotenoids containing an oxygenated carotene backbone. Carotenes are characterized by the presence of two end-groups (mostly cyclohexene rings, but also cyclopentene rings or acyclic groups) linked by a long branched alkyl chain. Carotenes belonging form a subgroup of the carotenoids family. Xanthophylls arise by oxygenation of the carotene backbone. 6,7-Didehydro-5',6'-epoxy-5,5',6,6'-tetrahydro-3,3',5,19'-tetrahydroxy-beta,beta-carotene is found in Nannochloropsis salina. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (1R,3S)-6-[(3E,5E,7E,9E,11E,15E)-17-hydroxy-16-[(E)-2-[(1S,4S,6R)-4-hydroxy-2,2,6-trimethyl-7-oxabicyclo[4.1.0]Heptan-1-yl]ethenyl]-3,7,12-trimethylheptadeca-1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15-octaen-1-ylidene]-1,5,5-trimethylcyclohexane-1,3-diol. |
