Common Name1-(beta-D-Glucopyranosyloxy)-1,2-dihydro-psi,psi-carotene
Description(2S,3S,4S,5R,6S)-2-(hydroxymethyl)-6-{[(6E,8E,10E,12E,14E,16E,18E,20E,22E,24E,26E)-2,6,10,14,19,23,27,31-octamethyldotriaconta-6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24,26,30-dodecaen-2-yl]oxy}oxane-3,4,5-triol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as xanthophylls. These are carotenoids containing an oxygenated carotene backbone. Carotenes are characterized by the presence of two end-groups (mostly cyclohexene rings, but also cyclopentene rings or acyclic groups) linked by a long branched alkyl chain. Carotenes belonging form a subgroup of the carotenoids family. Xanthophylls arise by oxygenation of the carotene backbone. 1-(beta-D-Glucopyranosyloxy)-1,2-dihydro-psi,psi-carotene is found in Rhodopseudomonas acidophila. It was first documented in 2022 (PMID: 35487686). Based on a literature review a significant number of articles have been published on (2S,3S,4S,5R,6S)-2-(hydroxymethyl)-6-{[(6E,8E,10E,12E,14E,16E,18E,20E,22E,24E,26E)-2,6,10,14,19,23,27,31-octamethyldotriaconta-6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24,26,30-dodecaen-2-yl]oxy}oxane-3,4,5-triol (PMID: 35487685) (PMID: 35487684) (PMID: 35487683) (PMID: 35487682).
