Description | (S)-2-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-6,8-bis(3-methylbut-2-enyl)chroman-4-one, also known as 5,7,3',5'-tetrahydroxy-6,8-diprenylflavanone or monotesone b, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 8-prenylated flavanones. These are flavanones that features a C5-isoprenoid substituent at the 8-position. Thus, (S)-2-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-6,8-bis(3-methylbut-2-enyl)chroman-4-one is considered to be a flavonoid (S)-2-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-6,8-bis(3-methylbut-2-enyl)chroman-4-one is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 5,7,3',5'-Tetrahydroxy-6,8-diprenylflavanone is found in Monotes engleri. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (S)-2-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-6,8-bis(3-methylbut-2-enyl)chroman-4-one. |
