Description6-Hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one, also known as 5,7,4'-scutellarein trimethylether or 6-hydroxy-4',5,7-trimethoxyflavone, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 7-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C7 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, 6-hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. A trimethoxyflavone that is the 5,7,4'-trimethyl ether derivative of scutellarein. 6-Hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Marrubium velutinum and Orthosiphon stamineus . 6-Hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
