These are neoflavonoids with a structure based on the 4-phenylcoumarin skeleton. Thus, 4-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-8-hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2H-chromen-2-one is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 8,3',4'-Trihydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-4-phenylcoumarin is found in Coutarea hexandra and Exostema mexicanum. 4-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-8-hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2H-chromen-2-one is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. |
