Common NameCrotalarin
DescriptionCrotalarin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as pyranoisoflavonoids. These are isoflavonoids that contain a pyran ring fused to either of the A, B, or C ring of the isoflavonoid skeleton. Thus, crotalarin is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Crotalarin is found in Crotalaria madurensis. Crotalarin is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
