| Description | Gancaonin L belongs to the class of organic compounds known as isoflavones. These are polycyclic compounds containing a 2-isoflavene skeleton which bears a ketone group at the C4 carbon atom. Thus, gancaonin L is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Gancaonin L is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Outside of the human body, Gancaonin L has been detected, but not quantified in, herbs and spices. 5,7,3',4'-Tetrahydroxy-8-prenylisoflavone is found in Glycyrrhiza glabra , Glycyrrhiza inflata and Glycyrrhiza uralensis . This could make gancaonin L a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
