Natural Product Identification
Common Name5,7,2',4'-Tetrahydroxy-5'-methoxy-3'-prenylisoflavone
DescriptionPiscerythrone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 3'-o-methylisoflavones. These are flavones with methoxy groups attached to the C2' atom of the isoflavone backbone. Thus, piscerythrone is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 5,7,2',4'-Tetrahydroxy-5'-methoxy-3'-prenylisoflavone is found in Piscidia erythrina and Piscidia piscipula. Piscerythrone is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
