DescriptionDalpatein belongs to the class of organic compounds known as isoflavones. These are polycyclic compounds containing a 2-isoflavene skeleton which bears a ketone group at the C4 carbon atom. Dalpatein is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Dalpatein is found in Dalbergia lanceolaria, Dalbergia paniculata , Millettia pachyloba, Piscidia erythrina and Piscidia piscipula. An methoxyisoflavone having methoxy substituents at the 6- and 2'-positions, a hydroxy group at position 7 and a methylenedioxy moiety at the 4'- and 5'-positions.
