Natural Product Identification
Common NameCuneatin
DescriptionCuneatin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as isoflavones. These are polycyclic compounds containing a 2-isoflavene skeleton which bears a ketone group at the C4 carbon atom. Thus, cuneatin is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Cuneatin is found in Cicer cuneatum, Dalbergia frutescens, Eysenhardtia polystachya, Millettia griffoniana, Millettia oblata ssp. teitensis , Millettia usaramensis, Millettia usaramensis subsp. usaramensis , Retama sphaerocarpa and Tephrosia maxima. Cuneatin is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
