Natural Product Identification
Common Name4'-O-Methylbavachalcone
Description4'-O-methylbavachalcone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 3-prenylated chalcones. These are chalcones featuring a C5-isoprenoid unit at the 3-position. Thus, 4'-O-methylbavachalcone is considered to be a flavonoid. 4'-O-methylbavachalcone is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 4'-O-Methylbavachalcone is found in Psoralea corylifolia . 4'-O-Methylbavachalcone was first documented in 2014 (PMID: 23323951). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 4'-O-methylbavachalcone (PMID: 26587307).
