Natural Product Identification
Common NameKanzonol A
DescriptionKanzonol a belongs to the class of organic compounds known as retro-dihydrochalcones. These are a form of normal dihydrochalcones that are structurally distinguished by the lack of oxygen functionalities at the C2'- and C6'-positions. Thus, kanzonol a is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Kanzonol A is found in Glycyrrhiza eurycarpa. Kanzonol a is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
