DescriptionLicodione belongs to the class of organic compounds known as retro-dihydrochalcones. These are a form of normal dihydrochalcones that are structurally distinguished by the lack of oxygen functionalities at the C2'- and C6'-positions. Thus, licodione is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Licodione is found in Glycyrrhiza echinata , Glycyrrhiza pallidiflora and Medicago sativa . Licodione was first documented in 1997 (PMID: 9055445). Licodione is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral (PMID: 10540749).
