| Description | 3-O-methylquercetin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, also known as transilin, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid-7-o-glycosides. These are phenolic compounds containing a flavonoid moiety which is O-glycosidically linked to carbohydrate moiety at the C7-position. Thus, 3-O-methylquercetin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside is considered to be a flavonoid. 3-O-methylquercetin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 3-O-Methylquercetin 7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside is found in Achyrocline alata , Artemisia serotina, Artemisia transiliensis, Asanthus solidaginifolia, Inula viscosa , Francoa sonchifolia, Lepisorus contortus, Lepisorus ussuriensis, Limonium gmelinii , Oenothera purpusii, Oenothera rosea , Oenothera texensis, Opuntia dillenii HAW. , Parodia sanguiniflora, Solanum spp. and Viguiera spp.. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 3-O-methylquercetin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside. |
