DescriptionBonanzin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 6-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C6 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, bonanzin is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethoxy-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Artemisia annua, Artemisia frigida, Artemisia lindleyana, Artemisia ludoviciana, Artemisia spp. , Baccharis salicina, Bahia oppositifolia, Bahia xylopoda, Brickellia spp., Limnophila gratissima, Parthenium ligulatum, Perityle vaseyi, Picradeniopsis schaffneri, Picradeniopsis xylopoda, Stevia cuzcoensis, Tagetes rupestris, Tanacetum parthenium and Vitex trifoliata. Bonanzin is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
