Description3,5-Dihydroxy-2-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-6,7-dimethoxy-4H-chromen-4-one, also known as 3,3',5-trihydroxy-4',6,7-trimethoxyflavone, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonols. Flavonols are compounds that contain a flavone (2-phenyl-1-benzopyran-4-one) backbone carrying a hydroxyl group at the 3-position. Thus, 3,5-dihydroxy-2-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-6,7-dimethoxy-4H-chromen-4-one is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Eupatin is found in Alnus glutinosa , Alnus koehnei, Arnica longifolia, Artemisia annua , Artemisia apiacea, Brickellia baccharidea, Brickellia dentata, Dicoma tomentosa, Eupatorium semiserratum, Helianthus glaucophyllus, Helianthus microcephalus, Heterotheca grandiflora, Mikania laevigata and Pericome caudata. 3,5-Dihydroxy-2-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-6,7-dimethoxy-4H-chromen-4-one is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
