| Description | Eupalitin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonols. Flavonols are compounds that contain a flavone (2-phenyl-1-benzopyran-4-one) backbone carrying a hydroxyl group at the 3-position. Thus, eupalitin is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Eupalin is the eupalitin 30-rhamnoside. Eupalitin is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Eupalitin 3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside can be isolated from Tephrosia spinosa. Eupalitin is an O-methylated flavonol. 3,5-Dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-6,7-dimethoxy-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Achillea wilhelmsii, Aeonium glutinosum, Ageratina areolaris, Ageratina ligustrina, Artemisia annua, Artemisia lindleyana, Artemisia ludoviciana, Asparagus falcatus, Brickellia longifolia, Duranta erecta, Ipomopsis aggregata, Loeseliastrum depressum, Onosma hispida and Rudbeckia hirta. It can be found in Ipomopsis aggregata. |
