Description2-(2,4,5-Trimethoxyphenyl)-5,6,7,8-tetramethoxy-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one, also known as 2',4',5,5',6,7,8-heptamethoxyflavone or agecorynin C, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 8-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C8 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, 2-(2,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-5,6,7,8-tetramethoxy-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 2-(2,4,5-Trimethoxyphenyl)-5,6,7,8-tetramethoxy-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Agecorynin C is found in Ageratum corymbosum, Ageratum houstonianum and Ageratum tomentosum. A methoxyflavone that is flavone substituted by methoxy groups at positions 5, 6, 7, 8, 2', 4' and 5'.
