These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C8 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, 2-(2,4-dihydroxy-5-methoxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 5,7,2',4'-Tetrahydroxy-8,5'-dimethoxyflavone is found in Gutierrezia microcephala. 2-(2,4-Dihydroxy-5-methoxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. |
