Common NameThevetiaflavone
Description7-Hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 5-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C5 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, 7-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Thevetiaflavone is found in Brucea javanica, Saccharum officinarum , Thevetia neriifolia and Thevetia peruviana . 7-Hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
