Common Name5,6-Dimethoxyflavone
Description5,6-Dimethoxyflavone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 6-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C6 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, 5,6-dimethoxyflavone is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 5,6-Dimethoxyflavone is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Outside of the human body, 5,6-Dimethoxyflavone has been detected, but not quantified in, pomes. 5,6-Dimethoxyflavone is found in Casimiroa edulis and Sargentia greggii. This could make 5,6-dimethoxyflavone a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
