Nepodin is found in Dianella revoluta, Maesopsis eminii , Myrsine africana, Phormium tenax, Rhamnus frangula , Rhamnus prinoides, Rhamnus procumbens, Rhamnus wightii, Rumex acetosa , Rumex alpinus , Rumex crispus, Rumex dentatus , Rumex hastatus, Rumex japonicus , Rumex nepalensis , Rumex obtusifolius , Rumex patientia L. , Saussurea costus, Simethis mattiazzii and Stypandra glauca. 1-(1,8-Dihydroxy-3-methylnaphthalen-2-yl)ethan-1-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
