DescriptionAthamantin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as angular furanocoumarins. These are furanocoumarins, with a structure characterized by a furan ring angularly fused to a coumarin. Athamantin is found in Ammi visnaga , Angelica sylvestris , Athamanta cretensis, Athamanta oreoselinum, Athamantha oreoselinum, Libanotis transcaucasia, Peucedanum bourgaei Lange in Wilk.et Lange., Peucedanum oreoselinum, Peucedanum spp. and Seseli libanotis. Athamantin was first documented in 1994 (PMID: 24242727). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Athamantin (PMID: 10630112).
