DescriptionOxyayanin A belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 7-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C7 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, oxyayanin a is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. A trihydroxyflavone that is flavone substituted by hydroxy groups at positioms 5, 2' and 5' and methoxy groups at positions 3, 7 and 4' respectively. Oxyayanin A is found in Apuleia leiocarpa, Chrysosplenium grayanum and Distemonanthus benthamianus . Oxyayanin A was first documented in 1999 (PMID: 10048707). Oxyayanin A is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
