Natural Product Identification
Common NameCassiaside C
DescriptionCassiaside C belongs to the class of organic compounds known as sesquiterpenoids. These are terpenes with three consecutive isoprene units. Cassiaside C is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Cassiaside C has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as coffee and coffee products, herbs and spices, and pulses. Cassiaside C is found in Cassia tora , Senna obtusifolia and Senna tora. This could make cassiaside C a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
