Common NamePolyporusterone F
DescriptionPolyporusterone F belongs to the class of organic compounds known as tetrahydroxy bile acids, alcohols and derivatives. These are prenol lipids structurally characterized by a bile acid or alcohol which bears four hydroxyl groups. Polyporusterone F is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, polyporusterone F has been detected, but not quantified in, mushrooms. Polyporusterone F is found in Polyporus umbellatus . This could make polyporusterone F a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
