Common NameIsorhamnetin 3-neohesperidoside
DescriptionCalendoflavoside belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid-3-o-glycosides. These are phenolic compounds containing a flavonoid moiety which is O-glycosidically linked to carbohydrate moiety at the C3-position. Calendoflavoside is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Calendoflavoside has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as cereals and cereal products, corns, and fats and oils. Isorhamnetin 3-neohesperidoside is found in Calendula officinalis, Celosia argentea, Crocus antalyensis, Opuntia ficus-indica, Platycodon grandiflorus, Primula daonensis and Zea mays. This could make calendoflavoside a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
