Common NameQuercetin 3,4'-diglucoside
DescriptionQuercetin 3,4'-diglucoside belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid-3-o-glycosides. These are phenolic compounds containing a flavonoid moiety which is O-glycosidically linked to carbohydrate moiety at the C3-position. Quercetin 3,4'-diglucoside is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Quercetin 3,4'-diglucoside is found, on average, in the highest concentration within shallots and garden onion (var.). Quercetin 3,4'-diglucoside has also been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as garden onions, grapes, and onion-family vegetables. This could make quercetin 3,4'-diglucoside a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Quercetin 3,4'-diglucoside is found in Allium tuberosum , Allium victorialis, Crambe tataria, Crocus antalyensis, Sisymbrium gilliesii and Vitis sp.. Quercetin 3,4'-diglucoside was first documented in 1999 (PMID: 10444863). Quercetin 3,4'-diglucoside is a flavonol glycoside found in onions (Allium cepa) and in horse chestnut seeds (Aesculus hippocastanum).
