| Description | 3-Epicycloeucalenol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cycloartanols and derivatives. These are steroids containing a cycloartanol moiety. 3-Epicycloeucalenol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, 3-epicycloeucalenol has been detected, but not quantified in, fruits. Cycloeucalenol is found in Ammocharis coranica, Arabidopsis thaliana, Artocarpus integer, Baccharoides anthelmintica, Bryonia dioica, Buddleja officinalis, Cedrela odorata, Corymbia citriodora, Costus tonkinensis, Dilodendron bipinnatum, Diplopterygium glaucum, Ecballium elaterium, Euphorbia antiquorum, Euphorbia boetica, Euphorbia caducifolia, Euphorbia guyoniana, Euphorbia nivulia, Euphorbia retusa, Euphorbia tuckeyana, Globba racemosa, Hoya australis, Melia azedarach, Monotropa uniflora, Musa paradisiaca, Musa sapientum L. , Nervilia plicata, Nicotiana benthamiana , Nigella sativa , Olea europaea, Panax ginseng, Pentatropis spiralis, Periploca sepium, Phaseolus vulgaris, Polypodium formosanum, Pyrrosia petiolosa, Scutellaria discolor, Sesamum alatum, Sideritis discolor, Symphoricarpos albus, Tinospora crispa , Trichosanthes palmata, Trichosanthes tricuspidata, Vigna angularis, Wrightia tinctoria and Zea mays. This could make 3-epicycloeucalenol a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
