Furan is a five-membered aromatic ring with four carbon atoms and one oxygen atom. 3Alpha,15-Dihydroxymarasmene is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, 3alpha,15-dihydroxymarasmene has been detected, but not quantified in, mushrooms. 3alpha,15-Dihydroxymarasmene is found in Marasmius oreades . This could make 3alpha,15-dihydroxymarasmene a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
