| Common Name | Aubergenone |
|---|
| Description | Aubergenone, also known as mangeudesmenone, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as eudesmane, isoeudesmane or cycloeudesmane sesquiterpenoids. These are sesquiterpenoids with a structure based on the eudesmane skeleton. Aubergenone is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Aubergenone has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as eggplants, fruits, and green vegetables. Aubergenone is found in Mangifera indica , Nicotiana undulata and Solanum melogena. This could make aubergenone a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
