Natural Product Identification
Common NameLiensinine
DescriptionLiensinine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as benzylisoquinolines. These are organic compounds containing an isoquinoline to which a benzyl group is attached. Liensinine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Liensinine has been detected, but not quantified in, coffee and coffee products and sacred lotus. Liensinine is found in Plumula nelumbensis. This could make liensinine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
