These are fatty alcohols that have an aliphatic tail of 13 to 21 carbon atoms. 1-Heptadecanol is found in Eucalyptus globulus, Euphorbia piscatoria, Phyllanthus emblica, Scutellaria barbata and Zea mays. 1-Heptadecanol was first documented in 2008 (PMID: 19112892). 1-Heptadecanol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
