DescriptionHeptadecenoic acid, also known as heptadecenoate, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as long-chain fatty acids. These are fatty acids with an aliphatic tail that contains between 13 and 21 carbon atoms. Heptadecenoic acid is found in Agelas conifera, Aplysina fistularis, Cucumis melo, Euphausia superba, Gossypium hirsutum, Hoya coronaria and Tripneustes ventricosus. Heptadecenoic acid is a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa).
