| Common Name | Hesperetin 7-glucoside |
|---|
| Description | Hesperetin 7-glucoside, also known as glucohesperetin, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cyclobutane lignans. These are lignans with a structure characterized by to phenylpropanoid units coupled together through the C7-C7' and C8-C8' bonds, forming a cyclobutane ring with the C7, C7', C8', and C8 atoms. Thus, hesperetin 7-glucoside is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Hesperetin 7-glucoside is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Outside of the human body, Hesperetin 7-glucoside has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as green vegetables, herbs and spices, and orange mints. Hesperetin 7-glucoside is found in Buddleja parviflora and Citrus aurantium. This could make hesperetin 7-glucoside a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
