DescriptionNorartocarpetin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavones. These are flavonoids with a structure based on the backbone of 2-phenylchromen-4-one (2-phenyl-1-benzopyran-4-one). Thus, norartocarpetin is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Norartocarpetin is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Norartocarpetin is a flavone. Outside of the human body, Norartocarpetin has been detected, but not quantified in, fruits and jackfruits. Norartocarpetin is found in Artocarpus integer, Artocarpus champeden Spreng., Artocarpus dadah , Artocarpus fretessi, Artocarpus gomezianus, Artocarpus kemando Miq. , Artocarpus scortechinii King , Artocarpus tonkinensis, Dalbergia sissoo, Ficus formosana, Morus alba, Morus australis, Morus lhou and Morus nigra. This could make norartocarpetin a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
