| Description | Muricinine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as aporphines. These are quinoline alkaloids containing the dibenzo[de,g]quinoline ring system or a dehydrogenated derivative thereof. Muricinine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, muricinine has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as custard apples, fruits, and soursops. This could make muricinine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
