DescriptionIsoeugenitin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as chromones. Chromones are compounds containing a benzopyran-4-one moiety. Isoeugenitin is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Isoeugenitin has been detected, but not quantified in, cloves and herbs and spices. Isoeugenitin is found in Baeckea frutescens and Pimenta pseudocaryophyllus. This could make isoeugenitin a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
