| Description | 3'',4''-Diacetylafzelin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid-3-o-glycosides. These are phenolic compounds containing a flavonoid moiety which is O-glycosidically linked to carbohydrate moiety at the C3-position. 3'',4''-Diacetylafzelin is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, 3'',4''-Diacetylafzelin has been detected, but not quantified in, herbs and spices. 5,7-Dihydroxy-2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)-4-Oxo-4h-Chromen-3-Yl 3,4-Di-O-Acetyl-6-Deoxy-Alpha-L-Mannopyranoside was first documented in 1991 (NAKATANI, et al.). This could make 3'',4''-diacetylafzelin a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
