Description(2R,5S,7R,8R,11S,14R,15R)-14-[(2R,3E,5R)-5,6-dimethylhept-3-en-2-yl]-2,15-dimethyltetracyclo[8.7.0.0²,⁷.0¹¹,¹⁵]Heptadeca-1(17),9-diene-5,7,8,11-tetrol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ergosterols and derivatives. These are steroids containing ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3beta-ol or a derivative thereof, which is based on the 3beta-hydroxylated ergostane skeleton. Fomentarol A is found in Fomes fomentarius. It was first documented in 2012 (PMID: 34383397). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (2R,5S,7R,8R,11S,14R,15R)-14-[(2R,3E,5R)-5,6-dimethylhept-3-en-2-yl]-2,15-dimethyltetracyclo[8.7.0.0²,⁷.0¹¹,¹⁵]Heptadeca-1(17),9-diene-5,7,8,11-tetrol (PMID: 23747096) (PMID: 34383398) (PMID: 34383396) (PMID: 34384147) (PMID: 34384146) (PMID: 34384145).
