Description6-[(2E)-4-hydroxypent-2-en-2-yl]-4-methoxy-3-methyl-2H-pyran-2-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as pyranones and derivatives. Pyranones and derivatives are compounds containing a pyran ring which bears a ketone. Stemphypyrone is found in Stemphylium globuliferum. Stemphypyrone was first documented in 2009 (PMID: 19271717). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 6-[(2E)-4-hydroxypent-2-en-2-yl]-4-methoxy-3-methyl-2H-pyran-2-one.
