Description(2R,3R,4S,5R)-2-{[(1S,2S,3R,4S,6R)-4,6-diamino-3-{[(2S,3R,4R,5S,6R)-3-amino-4,5-dihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-2-hydroxycyclohexyl]oxy}oxane-3,4,5-triol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as aminocyclitol glycosides. These are organic compounds containing an amicocyclitol moiety glycosidically linked to a carbohydrate moiety. There are two major classes of aminoglycosides containing a 2-streptamine core. They are called 4,5- and 4,6-disubstituted 2-deoxystreptamines (2R,3R,4S,5R)-2-{[(1S,2S,3R,4S,6R)-4,6-diamino-3-{[(2S,3R,4R,5S,6R)-3-amino-4,5-dihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-2-hydroxycyclohexyl]oxy}oxane-3,4,5-triol is a primary metabolite. Primary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically essential metabolites. They are directly involved in an organism’s growth, development or reproduction. Gentamicin A2 is found in Micromonospora echinospora. Gentamicin A2 was first documented in 1975 (PMID: 1177068). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (2R,3R,4S,5R)-2-{[(1S,2S,3R,4S,6R)-4,6-diamino-3-{[(2S,3R,4R,5S,6R)-3-amino-4,5-dihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-2-hydroxycyclohexyl]oxy}oxane-3,4,5-triol.
