| Description | L-cis-3-Amino-2-pyrrolidinecarboxylic acid, also known as L-cis-3-aminoproline, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as proline and derivatives. Proline and derivatives are compounds containing proline or a derivative thereof resulting from reaction of proline at the amino group or the carboxy group, or from the replacement of any hydrogen of glycine by a heteroatom. L-cis-3-Amino-2-pyrrolidinecarboxylic acid is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, L-cis-3-Amino-2-pyrrolidinecarboxylic acid has been detected, but not quantified in, mushrooms. 3-aminopyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid is found in Morchella conica. This could make L-cis-3-amino-2-pyrrolidinecarboxylic acid a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
