| Common Name | 3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-[5-(hydroxymethyl)-1,2,4a-trimethyl-2,3,4,7,8,8a-hexahydronaphthalen-1-yl]pent-2-enoic acid |
|---|
| Description | 3-(Hydroxymethyl)-5-[5-(hydroxymethyl)-1,2,4a-trimethyl-1,2,3,4,4a,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-yl]pent-2-enoic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as colensane and clerodane diterpenoids. These are diterpenoids with a structure based on the clerodane or the colensane skeleton. Clerodanes arise from labdanes by two methyl migrations. 3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-[5-(hydroxymethyl)-1,2,4a-trimethyl-2,3,4,7,8,8a-hexahydronaphthalen-1-yl]pent-2-enoic acid is found in Acritopappus heterolepis. 3-(Hydroxymethyl)-5-[5-(hydroxymethyl)-1,2,4a-trimethyl-1,2,3,4,4a,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-yl]pent-2-enoic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
